Aviary Thank You

18 December, 2010

The summer mini is here and I love this mini catalogue. There’s so much gorgeous stuff in it. Don’t forget to download it if you haven’t already done so! Check the side of this blog.

On this card, I’ve used 3 things from the Summer Mini – didn’t I tell you that I love this Summer Mini? So I’m showcasing one of my favourite stamp sets – Aviary – it’s just so cute with all the bird cages and little birds! The Clear Scallop Square Big Shot Die is fantastic. It’s clear so I can see where I’m cutting – isn’t that great? Of course the Square Lattice Embossing folder is just so delightful! Just perfect for my card.

I’d love you to tell me what you think of my card in the comments section!

Sitting Tilda

18 December, 2010

Isn’t she cute? I was never a real big fan of cutting out, colouring in, or even Magnolia stamps – gues what? I’m not reformed. This was one of my tests using copic pens and Stampin Up inks on Watercolour paper. It’s great! I’m so delighted with the outcome. I love my Stampin Up papers – they just bring out this Valentine Tilda just perfectly. It definitely helps when the Stampin Up! inks match the paper. This is why I love Stampin Up! The co-ordination just makes it sooooo easy.

I’m going to give this to my parents for Christmas I think – not really Christmassy is it? But that’s OK. I hope they like it!

Inky Hugs,

Recently I went to the Craft and Quilt Fair here in Brisbane and I knew it was going to be a little dangerous… anyway, many purchases later and then finally at home so I could play – I came up with this card for a friend that invited me to her Stampin’ Up! party!  It’s so strange being on the otherside of the table (considering I’m a Stampin’ Up! demo, but it was just so lovely to be there. I love the new Satin Ribbon from Stampin’ Up! Just so gorgeous. Not to mention the bling on the butterflies.

Here’s another card using with my Oval Cutting Mat and Embossing Folder. I really like this stamp set, it was one of the hostess stamp sets that is now retired.

Elements of style meets Wallpaper Embossing Folder

9 November, 2010

I have a few favourite stamp sets from this latest catalogue and this is one of them. As soon as I saw it, I just HAD to have it. It’s Elements of Style. There are so many things that I love about this card – the ribbon – didn’t I mention that I LOVE satin ribbon? Well – I’ve always loved ribbon and the gorgeous Satin ribbon is defintely my favourite, then maybe the thin taffeta ribbon, although I love the wide striped grosgrain too… ok I digress… Embossing folders are so easy to use and they add dimension to the card immendiately – just so quick to run it through my Big Shot – if you don’t have one of these – YOU MUST GET ONE!  I swapped one of my cutting mats with a mat I created using old cardboard (the backs of my DSP) and traced an oval shape (I used the large Ovals Die and just enlarged it by a centimetre) before cutting out the oval – a few more layers and then my oval mat was complete. And where the embossing die touches the cardboard mat is where it embosses – so you can see a section where this smooth oval is where the folder did not touch the mat.

What else do I love about this card? It’s the colours – I love Marina Mist and I just adore Rish Razzleberry. I’m so glad they brought this In Colour into our new Colour Collection.

I’ve added a bit of bling bling and there my card. I also made the envelope to match the card.

How to Store your Clear Mount stamps

8 November, 2010

Do you have your clear mount stamps “swimming” in their DVD box?

Are they all in a mess?

Do you know if you’ve lost one – especially when it’s a set with many stamps?

Have a look at this one – does this remind you of one of your clear mount boxes? You probably can’t see so well from this picture, but some of the stamps are sticking to the DVD case, but others are not (hence “swimming”) and when I’m taking them out to use or take along with me – they just all fall out. Not great when I’m using 3 or 4 stamp sets at the same time (can’t decide which one to use!)

Finally fed up with losing stamps and putting them in the wrong DVD case AND having them shake around (damaging each other) I had some brilliant idea – why not keep the SUPPORT BACKING with them!

So it looks like this:

Just mount the support background as you would any clear mount stamp and stick it onto the DVD cover. Voila! I no longer have swimming stamps and especially for this stamp set where the pieces are so small and there are many of them, I now know when I’m missing one.

Here’s the back view – perfect!

So when I take stamps out, I know exactly how many are missing. And once I’ve used the stamp I just lightly push it back into the placeholder.

Hope you like my little tip! It’s made such a difference to my stamp sets – I just wished I had this idea when I first bought my clear mount stamp sets… unfortunately there will always be those stamp sets I bought and mounted before my brilliant idea – shake-a-shake-shake!
